Coup de Cascades, AUG 18th & 19th cycling RACE set to be the best of the best in the Pacific N.W.

This 2nd year we have quadrupled our attendance in our 425 mile RAAM qualifier RACE to 6 people;  4 solo racers and ONE – 2man team. The race route has a C in a circle in bright YELLOW…sprayed onto the road in Chalk paint.

 It looks like this: © …. but in YELLOW ( © )

The 6 RACERS will be leaving the start/finish line at Mr. Crampy’s in Redmond on Saturday Aug 18th at 7am. We are excited and thrilled to be on the eve of yet another Race and ride event weekend. Our event on  AUG 18th & 19th will prove to be an interesting one with weather conditions turning on a spectacular show of “Mother Nature”…at her best and worst, all in one day. Lightning and hot muggy conditions are expected in the Cascades and all day on Saturday, leaving Racers to wonder, WHY am I doing this?… It is the test of willpower and the thrill of the RACE, and a little CRAZY, all rolled up in one, I suspect.

Even the Fires in the Ellensberg & Cle Elum area will have an effect on the air quality, possibly affecting some of the cyclers. Precautions are being taken to minimize risks and make the roads as safe as possible. Road monitors will be out to assist anyone needing help. HAMMER NUTRITION is a proud sponsor this year and we have products in goodie bags for all who have signed up.

The RIDERS, all 12 of them so far,  are doing either a 50 mile half century or a 100 mile century ride will be gathering on SUNDAY Aug 19th for an early take off at 8am. All people riding will be able to move at thier own pace, and will have WATER STATIONS on a fully supported RIDE by the Redmond Rousers Rotary Club & Friends of Rotary. For more information, please call Race Director, Kelly Kyle 425-765-5433

The AWARDS & party will start at 11am and end about 3pm when all the racers and riders are in, off the field. This year, Past President of the Redmond Rousers Rotary is Kelly Kyle. She is the Race Director once again and is committed to safety 1st. All the normal precautions have been taken care of…now we wait till everyone shows up to take off.

GOOD LUCK everyone…… we will be here for you and watching your results. You can still sign up the day of the event, as long as you are race ready…and have a full crew. OR… ride 50 – 100 miles……  see our MAPS and RULES on the website.

THANKS! Race Director – Kelly Kyle 425-765-5433  www.CoupdeCascades.org  or see and LIKE our facebook page. Your participation helps the END POLIO NOW campaign to eradicate polio worldwide.
